Dr. Kaushik Kumar - Associate Professor of BIT, Mesra
Kaushik Kumar, B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering, REC (Now NIT), Warangal), MBA (Marketing, IGNOU) and Ph.D (Engineering, Jadavpur University), is presently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, India. He has 22 years of Teaching & Research and over 11 years of industrial experience in a manufacturing unit of Global repute. His areas of teaching and research interest are Composites, Optimization, Non-conventional machining, CAD / CAM, Rapid Prototyping and Quality Management Systems. He has 14 Patents, 60+ Books, 30+ Edited Book Volume, 65+ Book Chapters, 180+ International Journal, 21 International and 1 National Conference Publications to his credit. He is on the editorial board and review panel of many International and National Journals of repute. He has been felicitated with many awards and honours.
Dr. Gulshan Kumar
Dr. Gulshan Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani–Dubai Campus (UAE). He previously served at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, India, for over three years. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay on residual stresses in zirconium using combined experimental and numerical approaches. A gold medalist in his B.Tech. from Kurukshetra University, he has also received prestigious academic awards at IIT Bombay. With over seven years of teaching experience, he has published in reputed international journals and supervises M.E., MBA, and Ph.D. scholars. His research interests include manufacturing, metal forming, residual stress analysis, material characterization, FEM simulations, and thermo-mechanical processing. He also works in manufacturing management, including quality control, lean manufacturing, and operations management.
Dr. Mohd Rizal Alkahari
Dr. Mohd Rizal Alkahari is the Manager of the Center of Excellence (COE) under the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, Malaysia. He is also a senior academic and researcher in the field of mechanical and manufacturing engineering, with specialization in additive manufacturing, product development, and advanced manufacturing systems. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and later completed his Master of Science in Manufacturing System Engineering with distinction from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from Kanazawa University, Japan, where his research focused on metal-based additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies. Before joining academia, Dr. Mohd Rizal Alkahari worked as a manufacturing engineer in industry, providing him with strong practical exposure to industrial manufacturing systems and product realization processes. His research interests include additive manufacturing, 3D printing, rapid prototyping, manufacturing process optimization, product design and development, sustainable manufacturing, and advanced production technologies.
Prof. Paolo Ferro
Dr. Paolo Ferro is Full Professor of Metallurgy and Materials Selection at the University of Padua (Italy). After the degree in Materials Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) he received the Ph.D. degree from University of Padua in Metallurgical Engineering. He was scientific director of the research program 'Numerical and Experimental Determination of Residual Stresses in Welded Joints and their Influence on Fatigue Strength. He won the prize for young researchers ‘Aldo Daccò’ 2002. He is a member of CMBM (Centre for Mechanics of Biological Materials), ExCo’s member of Italian Group of Fracture, member of ESIS TC15 (Structural Integrity of Additive Manufactured Components), principal chairman of ESIS TC18 (Structural Integrity of Welded Joints), scientific coordinator of the Italian research program about mechanical characterization of heavy section ductile irons and finally coordinator of the European project on Critical Raw Materials called DERMAP (Design of components in a critical raw materials perspective) . He published more than 200 works. His research is mainly focused on the analytical and numerical modelling of welding, heat treatment and additive manufacturing processes with particular attention to residual stresses assessment and their influence on the structural integrity of metallic components.
